As a key stakeholder in achieving lasting water security and strengthening collaboration between County Government and other water sectors, delegation of team from USAID Sustainable, transformational, and accessible water interventions (STAWI) visited major Water sites in Marsabit County to assess management, efficiency, and equitable access to water.
The delegation led by Deputy Chief of Party Mr. Ronald Kubasu and Water Technical Advisor Eng. Job Kitetu was received my Managing Director for Marsabit Water and Sewerage Company (MARWASCO) together with Director ICT for Department of water, Environment and Natural Recourse Mr. Stephen Shakhe.

MARWASCO is committed to working closely with USAID STAWI and other development partners to support water sector as a sole water provider in Marsabit County. It is through this partnership that MARWASCO aim at achieving sustainable growth and development in Water sector as a critical basic commodity across the County.

Sustainable, Transformational and accessible water intervention (STAWI) is a USAID funded project under the Feed the Future program with an objective of increasing Sustainable water Service delivery, both in rural and Urban areas.
The five-year USAID STAWI is actively working with county governments across the northern and southeastern counties of Garissa, Isiolo, Marsabit, Samburu, Turkana, Wajir, Kitui, Makueni, and Taita Taveta. The project aims at advancing water security for social, economic, and environmental needs.

STAWI is helping at reversing historical neglect of the region and enabling the Government of Kenya, County Government and USAID in building resilience to the regional unique shocks and stresses associated with water hazards.
