Horn of Africa Ground Water for Resilience Project (HoAGW4R) conducted Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Project disclosure, Delineation and Mapping of Public Land for Community Water Infrastructure use between 1st July 2025 to 6th July 2025 in all 11 selected sites in Marsabit county. The 11 selected sites for rehabilitation, equipping and piping of water to various villages include Jaldesa Borehole, Kamboi Furmasan, Loglogo, Lengima, Laisamis, Gamura/Maikona, Malabot, Illeret, Marime and Golole.The project is implemented by Marsabit Water and Sewerage Company.

The disclosure exercise is geared towards land delineation and sensitization for key water infrastructure development across the 11 selected sites to enhance sustainable access to groundwater and access to water as a basic commodity.The session brought together key stakeholders including Local communities, County Government which supported in identifying priority sites and guiding land adjudication and regulatory bodies e.g. National Land Commission mandated in mapping and establishing land coordinates for the selected sites.

The disclosure involved barazas and feedback sessions at the site, Identification and mapping of public land allocated for water infrastructure, support legal registration of delineated land for community use and promote transparency, community ownership and sustainability of water assets.

The project has made significant progress in ensuring environmental compliance, public participation, and secure land allocation for water infrastructure. Continued collaboration among communities, government agencies, and development partners will be essential in achieving long-term sustainability and resilience.
