USAID STAWI has officially handed over a designated construction site to Bluemajic Limited for construction of water supply line infrastructure, marking a significant milestone in the development of essential water services provision. This initiative, undertaken in partnership with the department of Water and Marsabit Water and Sewerage Company is aimed at improving water accessibility and reliability for the residents of Shauri Yako, Manyatta chille, Nyayo Road and Kiwanja Ndege.
Present during the project review meeting is the Department of Water represented by Chief Executive Committee Member (CECM) Hon. Grace Galmo, Chairperson Board of Directors for Marsabit Water and Sewerage Company Surv. Guyo Halakhe, Board Director Galgallo Sori, Director Stephen Shakhe and Managing Director Stephen Sora Katelo, Saku Sub-County Admin, Sub County Water Officer, Local administration represented by chiefs, USAID STAWI team and the Contractor Bluemajic Limited.
In a handover ceremony held at the Construction site, representatives from USAID STAWI, The Contractor, the department of Water and MARWASCO highlighted the transformative impact the project will have on the local population.
The pipeline is expected to increase water supply capacity, reduce wastage, and extend access to underserved communities.

The water pipeline infrastructure project is a key component of Increasing sustainability of water service delivery, funded by USAID STAWI. This program focuses on addressing critical water and sanitation challenges while supporting economic growth and environmental conservation.
The Contractor Bluemajic Limited will lead the construction phase, which includes the installation of a modern pipeline system (HDPEs) designed to withstand implication of leakages and bursts. The infrastructure development will employ an advanced technology to ensure efficiency and sustainability in water distribution as well as a installation of new Zincalume storage facility of 200 Cubic Meters.
Chief Executive Committee Member (CECM) Hon. Grace Galmo emphasized on the importance of community engagement in the project, urging residents to actively participate and take ownership of the infrastructure once completed.

Speaking on behalf of Marsabit Water and Sewerage Company, Managing Director Stephen Sora Katelo expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort, emphasizing the anticipated benefits for the residents.
“This project will not only secure a steady water supply but also lay the foundation for long-term community development addressing challenges of Water and a critical commodity,” MD Sora Katelo.
The donor funded project is set to kick off immediately after handover and scheduled for completion in 3 months’ time. Approximated 7,871 Persons is set to benefit from the project which is equivalent to estimated 1,500 households.
This collaboration underscores USAID’s STAWI commitment to fostering partnerships that address urgent development needs while promoting sustainability and self-reliance in the region.
